The Japanese anemone...

This month's featured plant is the Japanese anemone (anemone x hybrid "rosenschale"). It's one of the best late summer flowering plants. This vigorous perennial, provides a huge amount of elegant white or pink flowers. With a spread of 90cm by 90cm, in the middle of any border they stand above and reach over lower shrubs brightening all flower beds. Prefers partial shade and will thrive in most soils. You can divide them in autumn or spring (may take a year to recover).
